Kast Card in the USA: eligibility, spending in dollars and moving money by ACH

US residents can apply for the Kast Card after an eligibility check in the app and verify with a Social Security number. After that you spend dollars with no FX fee, pay with Apple Pay and use the USD account to move money by ACH, as long as your state isn't restricted for it.

Is the Kast Card available in the USA?

Yes, for US residents who pass KAST's US eligibility check. The first verification screen in the app has a line just for them, "Are you a US resident? See eligibility", and later in the same flow KAST asks US residents for their Social Security number.

KAST hasn't published a state-by-state list for the card, so the eligibility link in the app is the place to check. The USD bank account is a separate case: its opening screen asks US residents to look at a list of restricted states, so depending on where you live, the card may be open to you while the account isn't.

KAST is not a bank. Your money is a US dollar balance with KAST, and the card is a Visa card that spends it. Our Kast Card FAQ covers how that works.

How to sign up for KAST in the USA

Sign-up takes about ten minutes when the identity check passes on its own.

  1. Install the app through app.kast.xyz/referral/6MHGEMGE and create an account with your email, Google, Apple or a phone number.
  2. Choose the United States as your country of residence and open the eligibility link on the verify screen.
  3. Enter your home address and Social Security number, then scan a government photo ID, such as a passport or driver's license, and take a live selfie.
  4. Wait for the result. Most checks clear in 5 to 15 minutes; a manual review takes 1 to 3 business days.

Your name and address have to match your ID. Our Kast Card KYC page lists the usual reasons a check fails, and the Kast Card sign up page shows each screen.

Spending dollars in the USA: no FX fee, no transaction fee

Your KAST balance is held in US dollars, so a purchase priced in dollars comes out of it one for one, and KAST charges no FX fee or transaction fee on it. The fee you are most likely to meet at home is $0.50 when a payment is declined because the balance is too low.

Apple Pay works. KAST's Apple Pay country list includes the United States and Puerto Rico, and it goes by the country of residence on your account. Add the virtual card to Apple Wallet and you can tap at any contactless terminal before a physical card arrives. Kast virtual cards are free and unlimited; a Standard physical card costs nothing, but shipping is $40.

Cashback comes back in dollars: 1.5% on the first $2,000 a month on the free Standard tier, more on the paid tiers, up to 8% cashback.

Using the Kast Card outside the USA

Abroad, a purchase in euros, pounds, pesos or any other currency is converted from your dollar balance with an FX fee of 0.5% to 1.75%, and non-USD purchases under $25 may add $0.10. The calculator above works it out for euros.

KAST: your go-to card for global travel

On a €200 dinner in Paris, that comes to roughly $1.10 to $3.90 on top of the converted price at October 2026 rates. Flights and hotels booked in dollars carry no FX fee at all.

When a card terminal abroad offers to charge you in dollars, the merchant sets that exchange rate, and it is often worse than paying in the local currency plus KAST's fee. Every charge is listed on our Kast Card fees page.

Funding KAST from the USA: bank transfer or stablecoins

From a bank, fund KAST through the USD account: copy the account and routing number from Receive, then USD Bank Transfer, and send dollars from your bank by ACH ($2, 1 to 3 business days) or Fedwire ($15, usually the same day).

From crypto, send USDC or USDT to your KAST deposit address. KAST credits supported stablecoins one for one and charges nothing, so you pay only the network fee, which on Solana is usually a fraction of a cent. The Kast Solana Card page shows how to fund KAST from a Solana wallet.

Other coins such as BTC or ETH are accepted too, but KAST converts them to stablecoins on arrival for roughly 2% to 5%, so swapping first is usually cheaper.

Getting paid by ACH and cashing out to a US bank

The KAST USD account gives you a US account number and routing number at Lead Bank, connected through Bridge. An employer can pay your salary into it by direct deposit, and a client can pay an invoice by ACH, as with any US bank account. Receiving costs $2 by ACH and $15 by Fedwire. If more than $10,000 arrives in one transfer, or $20,000 in a month, KAST can ask where it came from, and without proof within 10 days the money goes back.

To cash out, use KAST Pay with a USD payout to your bank. ACH costs $1 and Fedwire $15, the 0.5% processing fee is waived until the end of 2026, the minimum is $2, and transfers take 1 to 5 business days. The Kast Global USD Account page has the full details.

Before you plan around it, open the restricted states link on the account's first screen. That list belongs to the account and is separate from the card's eligibility check.

Using the KAST card at ATMs in the USA

A KAST ATM withdrawal costs $3 plus 2% of the amount, so taking out $100 costs $5. The ATM owner may add its own surcharge, which the machine shows before you confirm. If you need cash often, sending money to your bank and using its ATMs works out cheaper.

Taxes in the USA: KAST doesn't send a 1099

KAST doesn't issue tax forms, so no 1099 arrives in January, and it doesn't produce tax reports either. You get a statement of account instead.

That leaves the record-keeping to you. Note the date and dollar value of your stablecoin deposits, any crypto KAST converted for you and the cashback you earn, and ask a tax professional how to report them. Nothing on this page is tax advice.

KAST in New York and its plans for the USA

KAST spent 2026 building up in the US. At Digital Asset Summit in New York, from 24 to 26 March, it ran three coffee booths, gave out 1,000 tumblers and tote bags, hosted a VIP dinner and threw a party for the launch of the Pengu Card. CEO Raagulan Pathy gave a keynote on the last day.

In April KAST hired Stephanie Allen, a former senior adviser at the SEC, to lead corporate and policy communications as it pushes for growth in the US. In August Connor Fitzgerald, who led card partnerships at Bridge, the stablecoin company owned by Stripe, joined as US general manager to run the US business, launch KAST Business and hire a local team. KAST says its $80 million Series A is paying for expansion in North America, Latin America and the Middle East.

The Matchday video above ends in New York too: the winner of KAST's World Cup game opens a gold KAST card and heads off to a match.

Is KAST worth it in the USA?

For spending at home the Kast Card costs almost nothing to use: no FX fee, no transaction fee, Apple Pay, and 1.5% cashback in dollars on the free tier. It makes the most sense if you hold stablecoins or get paid in them and want to spend them without cashing out to a bank first. If all your money already sits in dollars at a bank, an ordinary cashback card does the same job without the crypto steps.

The weak spots are cash and paperwork. ATMs cost $3 plus 2%, and with no 1099 you keep your own records. Check the eligibility link before anything else, since KAST sets the US rules and can change them.
