Kast Card KYC, explained: levels, documents, timing and rejections
Kast Card KYC is KAST's identity verification. Level 2, a government ID and a live selfie, unlocks the card; Level 3 adds proof of address for the USD and EUR accounts. Most checks finish in 10 to 15 minutes, and most rejections come down to the photo.
When Kast Card KYC happens
KYC starts the moment you sign up. Level 1 is part of registration itself: a phone number or email, a 6-digit PIN and your country of residence. That gets you into the app, but card and transfer features stay locked until Level 2, the ID and selfie check, is approved.
KAST's own getting-started posts on X have described it the same way since 2024: download the app, add a referral code if you have one, then complete verification with a selfie and a valid ID. Our Kast Card sign up page covers the screens before KYC.

KAST's three verification levels
KAST verifies in tiers, and you only climb as far as the products you want need.
- Level 1: basic account information. Opens the app.
- Level 2: government ID and identity check. Unlocks KAST cards, sending and receiving funds and most everyday features.
- Level 3: proof of address and enhanced checks, such as citizenship, occupation, salary and expected activity. Unlocks the USD and EUR accounts, global payouts and other regulated services.
Level 3 starts from the Receive screen when you activate a bank transfer account. If you have already completed it for the Kast Global USD Account, you don't repeat it for EUR.

Who checks your ID
The ID and selfie check runs through Sumsub, whose privacy notice is part of the terms you accept before verification starts. In September 2026 KAST said that identity verification, including screening, is mandatory for every user, that it works with Elliptic, Sumsub and Sardine to monitor activity in real time, and that its compliance department has more than 50 people.
Your documents are only for verification. KAST collects them in the verification flow, or through a secure link from KAST Concierge when it asks for more; don't send them by email or chat unless Concierge has asked you to.

How long KAST KYC takes
Most applications are approved automatically in about 10 to 15 minutes; the in-app status screen says 5 to 15. When the system can't decide, the file goes to KAST's compliance team, which usually takes 1 to 3 business days. Extra documents add their own 1 to 3 days.
Busy periods slow everything down. If nothing has changed after 24 to 48 hours, that is the point to contact Concierge rather than resubmitting. When it clears, you get an email and the pending banner disappears from the home screen.

Residency, address and proof of address
Your residency is the country where you live, pay taxes and can prove an address, not your nationality. It decides which currencies, funding options and KYC rules apply, so pick it carefully; a wrong choice can fail verification or put the account on hold. Check that your country is on our Kast Card supported countries list first.
Proof of address is needed for Level 3 or when KAST asks. Bank and credit card statements, utility and post-paid mobile bills, tax letters, residency certificates, council bills and signed leases all count, as long as they are in your name, show your home address and were issued in the last 3 months.

When KAST asks for source of funds
KAST can ask for source of funds after certain transfer thresholds, during routine reviews, when documents expire, or when you apply for a product that needs enhanced checks. The request is routine and always comes as an in-app notice or an email.
Payslips, employment contracts, business bank statements, brokerage statements, sale agreements and gift or inheritance letters are the usual documents. Upload clear, complete files in the app, with the same name as your account.
What to do after a rejection
Read the reason first. Photo and document problems can usually be fixed and resubmitted at once, and you can reuse the same document once the photo is right. Repeated uploads of the same bad photo only slow things down.
Wrong personal details are different: they can't be edited in the app after submission, so Concierge has to correct them or reset your KYC. Rejections for compliance reasons, such as sanctions screening or a restricted jurisdiction, can be appealed through Concierge, but not every decision is reversed. Moving to a supported country with a valid ID from there can make you eligible again.
One account per person
KAST allows one active account per identity, and duplicate registrations are rejected. To verify a new account with the same passport or ID card, the old account has to be fully deleted first: a zero balance, the closure steps completed and a confirmation from KAST. That re-verification usually takes 2 to 3 business days, and a suspended account has to be resolved before its ID can be used again.
After approval, and the referral code
Once Level 2 is approved, the free Kast Virtual Card is ready. Fund it with USDC or USDT, on Solana for example, as our Kast Solana Card page shows, and check the Kast Card fees before paying in another currency.
The referral code works before or after KYC: 6MHGEMGE gives $20 after your first $100 of card spend and 10% off a paid membership. Sign up through app.kast.xyz/
How the rewards unlock is covered on our KAST referral code page.
